Productivity Interview with Jason “Verse” Anderson, Founder of Versatile Media Group and Publisher of G Style Magazine.

Tell us more about you?

My name is Jason Anderson and I’m a jack of all trades so to speak. I have a 9-5 job where I do IT work. Then I have my own company Versatile Media Group in which we do a couple of things like build websites for clients and we have a few digital media projects. One of those would be G Style Magazine, where I sit as Publisher of the Magazine.

What is the address of your blog/website:

The company website is www.vmghub.com, G Style would be www.gstylemag.com We are a Tech magazine. We however are blurring the lines between fashion and technology. So we cover consumer electronics that are fashionable, stylish, and trendy.

G Style Magazine we like to say is like Visa since it’s everywhere you want to me. We’re on Facebook, MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/gstylemag) Twitter(http://www.twitter.com/gstylemagazine), Flickr, YouTube, and many other popular net locations.

How long are you using a BlackBerry already? Which BlackBerry model do you currently use?

I have been using a Blackberry since the Blackberry 8700C on AT&T. That is how I can measure the time since I’ve been using one. I currently have the Blackberry Bold from AT&T.

What do you like most about your BlackBerry?

The instant push technology, the always on, always connected nature of the Blackberry. And with the many software apps it now has, I have groomed this device, so that I can admin all of my web domains, at any time on the go.

Why don’t you have an iPhone? Would you like to buy one? If you own one, why?

Actually I just got an iPhone from my 9-5 job. So I’ve been testing it and getting a feel for it. Would I use it as my main device, no – but it is a fun device to use. I have actually written a side by side challenge of both which can be found on G Style Magazine.

What software did you install on your BlackBerry:

I have a ton. As you can imagine from personal use and software that needs to be reviewed for G Style Magazine. To name a few app I have Facebook, MySpace, Viigo, Visual Voicemail by PhoneTag, Flickr, TwitterBerry, SocialScope, BeeJiveIM, FlyCast, and SlackerRadio to name a few. But I still have more, just didn’t want to list every single one.

What is the best application you have on your BlackBerry?

Hands down my #1 app is Viigo. After that I would have to say BeeJiveIM and xTemplate by Shapeservices.

How does the BlackBerry make you more productive?

For what I do it allows me to be always connected to my clients. For G Style Magazine it allows me to stay in the know with what is going on in CE, be able to publish a breaking story at a moments notice while on the go and away from a PC, and allow me to promote it on sources like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. At the same time interacting with our readers.

What is the favorite thing you do with your BlackBerry?

Probably read news articles and stories on Viigo. I use Viigo like it was the New York Times. If you’ve ever been on a train in New York City, you’ll see people on the train reading their newspapers. I read Viigo like that, Viigo is my newspaper!
